Elizabeth spent two weeks in Houston, Texas this summer as part of the United Space School program representing Western Canada. We are very proud of how she represented us. Below is a summary written by Elizabeth about how she felt about her experience, and what she learned. Her excitement is absolutely infectious, and brought absolute joy to our year. We can tell that this combination of intelligence and enthusiasm will result in success as she persues her dreams.
We are pleased to announce our 2017 FISE United Space School Student who will be representing Western Canada this summer: Elizabeth Drew. We are also celebrating twenty years of sending students to this amazing academic program. It encourages us each year to see the caliber of students in Alberta who have the desire to have a career in the space industry. Here is a short introduction to Elizabeth in her own words:
We are pleased to announce that our 2016 United Space School Student has been chosen. We would like to thank the individuals who volunteered their time to be part of the interview panel and all of the students who applied to the program. Our chosen student, Logan Wood, has wrote the following introduction about himself.
All aircraft that were moved outdoors for our renovations are now back inside the museum for viewing. The main area now affected by the renovations is our mezzanine engines and propellors display. We are continuing to offer 20% off admissions as we finish up the renovations, but please be rest assured that there is plenty to see!
Due to ongoing renovations at the Museum the Bell 47, F86 Sabre, and Vampire will not be located on the gallery floor for viewing at this time. As soon as the renovations are completed the aircraft will be returned to their normal positions. During this time we will also be offering 20% off our regular admission rates.
The chill November air moved our ceremony inside this year, but the weather didn't stop Calgarians from joining us to remember the sacrifices our veterans have made. A special addition this year was the Calgary Youth Chorus who premiered a new song called When November Comes. Here are the poignant lyrics from an anonymous Canadian patriot:
Book their birthday party with us! They can tour around the facility, open their presents and eat their cake here. The cost to book our Lancaster Room is $95.00 and this includes admission to the museum for up to fifteen guest. After fifteen guests each additional guest will be $5.00. We provide use of the Lancaster Room for two hours, tables and chairs, a fridge and prep counter for food (cake, snacks, pizza).
