Gord Lowe was employed by Transport Canada as an air traffic controller from 1960 until his retirement in 1996. During that period he served at the Edmonton International Airport, Edmonton and Goose Bay Area Control Centres, retiring as Manager of the Calgary Air Traffic Control Unit in 1996.
In 2001 Gord was elected to Calgary City Council as the Alderman for Ward 2 - retaining the seat until his retirement from Council in 2013. On Council his primary interests included finance and audit, land use planning and transportation. He was a Council appointed member of the ENMAX Board of Directors from 2004 to 2013.
Gord currently sits on the Board of The Heritage Park Foundation. Following several years as an advisor to the Board, Gord joined the Board of The Hangar Flight Museum in 2014, and Chairs the Nominating Committee.
