Giving Tuesday Campaign

December 1, 2020 - Today Only!

We can hardly believe that December is already here, and the end of the year is almost here as well. This has been a challenging year for individuals, families, and the charitable sector. CanadaHelps knows that the end of the year is when many people consider gifts to non-profits for charitable tax purposes. This year they are helping give even more to charities by adding a $2 donation to online donations of $20 or more! This boost lasts for today only, and will be applied until they have given away $30,000. That means the donations that are made earlier in the day will be more likely to qualify for the additional help.

Our mission:
To provide a rich understanding and appreciation of the evolution of flight by telling stories related to our collections that provide inspiration to current and future generations.
What does that really mean?
We preserve history in the form of artifacts and stories. We provide educational experiences and resources to our community. We create a safe place for people to engage and learn about our heritage.

What does my donation accomplish?
You can choose a project that is most meaningful to you. If you're interested in providing assistance so we can continue our normal operations and so we have the resources to continue our in-person and online educational programs we recommend donating to our General Operations fund. These donations go where they are most needed, and are invaluable.

Choose a Fund to Support
You can donate to other specific projects including Aircraft Maintenance and Restoration, which ensures we can maintain the health of our artifacts and also improve the health of other artifacts that need more care.

We also have a Building Expansion fund set up for the next stage of The Hangar Flight Museum. As our collection and engagement with our community grows we find ourselves short of space. We have endless ideas for new exhibits and learning spaces, but our we are at capacity in our current buildings. Donating to this fund will jump start our expansion.

We are also in process of completing important restoration on our historic building. During the early part of 2021 we will be repairing some of our roof trusses that have experienced seasonal changes in humidity over decades since the building was built in 1941. This project began in 2020 with the installation of a new humidity system so that we can keep the humidity level consistent between seasons. Completing this project is integral to our ability to preserve not only the building but the historically significant, delicate, artifacts that it contains.

Message from the Executive Director

Brian Desjardins

Through the difficulties of this year we have continued to be inspired by the support we have received from our community. From artifact donations to participation in our televised Remembrance Day service and volunteers putting time and effort into projects, The Hangar has seen that our community continues to be there for us.

On Giving Tuesday I'd like to take a moment to recognize that we couldn't achieve our goals without people who are just like you. Every kind word and every donation, no matter the size, is meaningful to our organization. Thank you for taking the time to read this email, as it means that you're engaged with us and care about us achieving our goals.

We have high hopes that 2021 will be a kinder year to us all. We appreciate your kindness this year when the world has felt less gentle.
