WHAT WILL WE LEARN?

In this 120 minute hands-on, classroom based program, students will build a testable glider. This glider was previously part of our Prepare for Takeoff program from the previous Alberta curriculum, but is being used in a new exciting way to utilize the scientific method to discover pitch, roll, and yaw. Horizontal movement, level or flight, and straight and level flight are some of the principles of flight that will be studied during this program.

NEW! This program is new for the 2024/25 school year to reflect the new science curriculum for grade 5 and is abased around the organizing ideas: Energy and Scientific Methods.

For those of you who have attended programming at The Hangar before, this program will be most familiar to you, but we are ensuring that it reflects the new curriculum and will have a large component of testing and measurement based on changing variables to engage in scientific investigations.
